Arne Slot Insists He Feels Safe and Retains Liverpool's Support Following PSV Humiliation

Arne Slot admitted that it was expected for doubts to be raised about his future after another convincing defeat against the Dutch champions.

The Reds endured their 9th defeat in 12 matches, representing the club's poorest run since being demoted in the 1953-54 season.

They were taken apart by the Dutch league champions on a punishing night at their home ground.

“I feel secure, I'm fine, I've received a lot of support from the top,” Slot remarked.

“It would be nice to turn it around and get a victory of course but when you're working as a coach and underperforming then it's typical that people question you.”

He noted, “I accept my position. This isn't the first time I've found myself in a tough spot but it's crucial that we improved our results.”

Talks with The Board

When asked to expand on his discussions with the team officials, Slot said:

“We communicate frequently. They are helpful for the squad and for me and we discuss these matters but they don’t call me all the time each day to say they trust me.”

He further stated, “In the normal discussions I feel the belief. However I've not talked to them since this match yet so let’s see.”

Persistent Failings and Squad Response

The manager highlighted recurring failings from his team in their European loss, namely missed opportunities and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, midfielder Jones was blunter in his evaluation of the current crisis.

“I don’t have the solutions. Frankly, I don’t. I'm telling that to everyone,” the midfielder stated.

“It is unacceptable. I don't need to wait to reflect. I’m past being angry internally. I've reached the stage now where I just don’t have the phrases.”

He went on, “It's difficult because I play for the side I follow. I'm a supporter, and I’ve seen this club all my life.”

“In recent memory, I've not seen a Liverpool team experiencing a phase such as this with outcomes like these.”

He concluded, “But we continue to wear the emblem on our chest. And as long as it is removed, we'll continue to fight.”

“We will attempt to bring this squad back to the top, demonstrate to all once more what Liverpool stands for and why people call it the top club in the planet.”

“But right now, we're in trouble and we have to turn it around.”
