It's difficult for the Australian squad to set fresh records.

The top summits have already been conquered.

This is the squad that has won seven Cricket World Cups, along with an additional six T20 titles, and once went over three years without defeat in 50-over cricket.

The alternative records, the ones sought by the peak baggers, are the only things left for a team that has achieved everything.

The fact it required up to Sunday's success by three wickets over India for them to complete their first ODI chase above 300, taking back their record for the highest in the female 50-over format, is, frankly, a compliment to the pitchers that have sported the yellow jersey over the last half-century.

It is hard for their batters to hold a record if not provided the chance.

Ultimately, the consequence of Australia allowing 330 runs was skipper Alyssa Healy receiving an opportunity to produce her latest masterpiece.

Initially recognized as the teenage relative of celebrated previous Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she debuted in 2010 after Australia couldn't capture either of the T20 or ODI World Cups held the previous year and has experienced everything through 15 successful years since.

Success in the T20 World Cup happened three months after her first appearance and seven world titles have followed from 10 efforts across formats.

The tough gloveman was in attendance in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final setback by India briefly halted the successful run.

That loss "motivated us to rethink our standards," Healy stated recently.

At the next 50-over World Cup in New Zealand, Healy made 170 against England in the final and was named player of the tournament. She guaranteed her country would not fail again.

Whether this newest brilliant performance topped that previous effort remains open for discussion.

Some will argue the case for championship match pressure. Others can counter with the test that comes when facing a record target and a raucous India-supporting crowd of 20,000.

What's clear is this hundred was much more difficult to anticipate.

The Christchurch carnage in 2022 happened while she was the highest scorer, but this innings was preceded by six games in India since the start of last month in which she had not exceeded 30 runs.

"For those following me in practice sessions, it's been a disappointing period because it appeared my form was missing completely," commented Healy.

"But once you step out on the field, your competitive nature activate and you completely engage with the match."

Healy's competitiveness has always been her great strength - and an invaluable trait in replacing iconic ex-skipper Meg Lanning.

She was tormented by India's rising star Kranti Gaud in recent ODI series, dismissed by the young fast bowler in each encounter, but here that only provided Healy's inspiration.

A single came off Gaud's first delivery and from that point Healy was on her way.

"An opportunity to play and engage in competition with her and merely enjoy the moment that way, sort of got me going," stated Healy.

She achieved fifty in 35 deliveries - her fastest at the global tournament - and her ton in 84 as she punished short deliveries, hitting 21 fours and three big hits.

Once she was removed her side needed 66 additional runs at a run-a-ball - an unconquered height now requiring a leisurely stroll.

"Chasing 330 runs is unfamiliar ground so I am glad we have the assurance to achieve that now," added Healy.

"Ideally we won't need to repeat it but, if we do, we know we can achieve it."

That comment will be the final thing Australia's opponents at this championship should hear.

In recent days a feeling they will win from any position has become more firm - this success coming after win against Pakistan by 107-run victory despite struggling at 76-7 at one point.

Next Australia play Bangladesh before a match against longtime competitors England in Indore in ten days, by which point a last-four spot may likely be confirmed.

It was in the semi-finals they exited the prior year's T20 World Cup in a surprising setback by South Africa - a match Healy missed because of torn tissue in her foot as she guided Australia for the first time at a significant event.

Such is her determination, she subsequently stated she regretted not playing with the discomfort.

But while she afterwards confessed those physical issues have postponed consideration of ending her career, this tournament is likely to be her final tournament as skipper in one-day cricket and she is hasn't yet secured a global event as leader.

Victory in India would take her to the summit of her ultimate challenge.
