Iran Reports Strike on US Base in Bahrain, Amid Widespread Counterattacks.
Tehran reports attacking a US naval base in Bahrain, as Iran launched operations throughout the Middle East in response for a significant and ongoing attack targeting the nation by the United States and Israeli forces.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an area close to the headquarters of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The scope of any destruction is not yet known and the American officials has remained silent.
Missile Defenses Activated
Elsewhere across the region, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Kuwait - all home to American military installations - said they have intercepted incoming projectiles in their airspace.
In Doha, the Qatari Ministry of Defence stated it had successfully engaged a number of projectiles apparently targeting the al-Udeid air base, the biggest US military installation in the Middle East.
Iran's Declared Retaliation
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) declared it was targeting US bases and assets as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the strikes on the Islamic Republic initiated by the US and Israel on Saturday.
That initial attack - initiated at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far focused on locations associated with the the regime, with US President Donald Trump encouraging the Iranian people to revolt against the government.
Additional Developments
In the State of Israel, sirens were heard nationwide after the Israel Defense Forces reported it had identified an incoming Iranian missile barrage.
The Ministry of Defence of the UAE stated that the nation has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"UAE air defence systems engaged the missiles with high efficiency and successfully intercepted a several projectiles," the statement continued.
Officials reported missile fragments landed in a populated district in the capital, resulting in some structural damage and fatalities.
The United States Air Force is stationed at the Al Dhafra base, south of Abu Dhabi, along with the Emirati Air Force.
