The second-hand marketplace Members Voice Anger Regarding Size Modifications
Vinted users have been reacting angrily due to a modification that led to products showing incorrect sizing.
This online marketplace has altered its measurement guidelines for women's and children's garments without notifying all shoppers about the modification.
Social Media Reaction
Numerous buyers and vendors are expressing on platforms saying Vinted listings now show a different size category than originally posted as a result of the reclassification.
The platform stated the updated approach better aligns with other platforms.
It has advised users to review their products and update the measurements by hand when needed, causing user dissatisfaction.
Size Classification Updates
Earlier, the measurements included numerical and alphabetical indicators, for instance S/8 or M/10.
The updated approach includes an alphabetical indicator and numerical range such as S/UK 8-10.
With some products, the sizing has been recategorised - like an L measurement was previously a 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.
User Accounts
Frankie Bridger, who produces content about larger sizing, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".
"Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.
Another user, from Glasgow, explained products she uploaded featuring size 14 markings were showing in the marketplace as measurements 20-22.
"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they may become frustrated," she said.
Manual Updates
A different user, based in Derby, explained she became annoyed by the change as she had to manually change the sizes on "every single listing".
"For me this is particularly frustrating, since I have chronic health issues and Vinted sales have been crucial after experiencing income reduction," she explained.
Marketplace Information
The platform boasts over 100 million shoppers, including 18 million in the UK.
It has emerged as a preferred choice versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.
This is not the initial instance where an unanticipated change on the platform has faced criticism: previously, the platform withdrew an update regarding delivery choices due to shopper criticism.
